Data description

Each sample of the input data contains measurements by different sensors contained in a handheld gas detection device.

The first line of the input file contains headers with column names.

The input data contains the following 14 columns:

- ID: unique identifier used for matching inputs and outputs.
- 8 columns named M4–M7 and M12–M15. These are measurements that are part of two groups of sensors that are physically close to each other (e.g., sensor M5 is between M4 and M6).
- 4 columns named S1–S3 and R. These are the measurements of four complementary sensors.
- Humidity is the absolute humidity (in arbitrary units), as water has an impact on the measurements.

The training output file contains the ID corresponding to an input sample, followed by the alarm level for each of the 23 classes that should be detected (again, they include the gas itself, but also its characteristics, such as being a nerve agent or not, etc.):

- ID
- c1–c23: between 0 and 1.

The test data corresponds to physical conditions (humidity, concentrations) that are typically not present in the training data for the same gas.

The training and test data represent together about 330,000 samples, with about half in the test data (and 37 different columns in total). This easily fits in the memory of a typical laptop.
